mzungo.org in Boston
After six hours in the car from NYC to Boston, we're finally here. Tomorrow will be a busy day. At 8am is the start to the first BAA 5k where I try to break 16min. 4,000 people signed up for the race downtown Boston. Shortly thereafter will be the invitational Mile that promises great action and fast running. The expo will be full of stars and running legends who further spike up the excitement.
At 9am on Monday the disabled runners open the 113th Boston Marathon. Double-amputee Richard Whitehead aka "Mzungohead" is shooting for another world best, trying to beat his 2:56 Rome time from six weeks ago. My job tomorrow will be to persuade him to be happy with a course PR that would allow me and the other guide an easier job. It will be interesting to see if we can beat the woman to the line who start their race 30 mins. later. Either way, I should be in my post-race gear to see the men finish. Does that sound promising or what?
Stay tuned for pictures, reports and gossip as always and for many, many years now, exclusively only here on mzungo.org.
