Scotland Run (10k) - the race

(Photo courtesy of nyrr.org - thanks!)
Whoever endured the rain saw a fantastic sprint finish among four guys at today's 10k in Central Park.
Thomas Slosky from New York Athletics Club (NYAC) edged out West Sider Tesfaye Gyrma (30:39 and 30:41). Kiwi olympian and mzungo.org friend John Henwood (NYAC) followed closely behind in 30:42, completing the podium just ahead of Teklu Deneke.
Little surprise that NYAC won the team awards ahead of West Side Runners (WSX).
Well distanced but nonetheless deserved: 3rd place goes to Nike Central Park Track Club. Consistency was key for us, finishing 24th, 29th, 34th, 35th and 36th (!) out of 11,000 runners. I am grateful to be part of such a strong team.
48 (!) teams scored.

No less exciting was the female race. Alemtsehay Misganaw seemed comfortable finishing first in 35 flat but rest assured that 22 year-old Abrah Serkalem (WSX) and Nike CPTCs own Aileen Conlon kept her honest, following only 3 and 4 seconds later.
NYAC nipped the woman's title as well but second place goes to Nike CPTC while West Side has to be happy with third.
