Unsung heroes

Ever heard of Elijah Keitany and John Kales?
If so, you are the real expert.

Look at their Half Marathon PBs:
Keitany: 60:10, Berlin, Apr 2008
Kales: 60:47, Luxembourg, Sep 2007

So, you might ask yourself, what's the story?

They are top-class pacemakers, hired by Dave Bedford to go through 20 miles in world record pace. Mind you, there are very few runners who can run 20 miles @ 2:04 pace! They would have the ability to win almost any marathon. But they choose to serve the superstars.

This is what they did in Dubai for Geb:
Kales/Keitany:1:28:17 - 30K, Dubai, Jan 2009 (Geb - 2:05:27) , a shy 17 seconds of the current 30K world record by Matsumiya (Kumamoto, 2/27/2005). Thanks to our anonymous reader for pointing this out.

Unreal fast and almost unknown. Let's see what job they do this Sunday. We hope Dave pays well.
