The new champion, who comes from Afro Athletics club of Kapsabet, said he realised the pace setters had started experiencing Mombasa’s humid conditions and took advantage to zoom off unchallenged."I was my first time taking part in the Mombasa International marathon and I had to ensure I kept pace especially with the defending champion, Peter Mutua, who knew the route well for 30km before I took over the driving seat", said Kipruto in an interview at the Treasury Square where the event started and ended.
