Prague Marathon results: Patrick Ivuti 2:07:48

With less than a kilometre to go, Ivuti retook the lead and held on for the 2:07:48 victory, knocking more than a full minute from the previous standard and, most significantly for the 2005 Chicago Marathon winner, just two seconds shy of his own career best. (source: IAAF)

Patrick Ivuti currently lives in (yes...) Eldoret and is best known for a photo finish win against Gharib at the hot 2007 Chicago Marathon, one of the world's top 5 races. He seems to excel in hot races given his Chicago win, the warm conditions today in Prague or his successful trip to Hawaii last December. Maybe mzungo.org gets a chance to ask him soon if he prefers warm conditions. We would not be surprised though if he is simply tough as nails, ready to race in whatever weather is thrown at him.

Apart from the Chicago win, he's a well known performer at the half marathon. He has broken the hour mark several times since running a time of 59:31 in Lisbon 2000. Since then he improved his half marathon personal record to 59:27, run at the Fortis Rotterdam Half-Marathon on September 9, 2007.
