Wittenberg: "Martin continues a legacy of Irishmen running in New York”

Organizers of the May 16 Healthy Kidney 10K road race in Central Park have confirmed that Irish Olympian Martin Fagan will be part of the field.

Fagan, a native of Mullingar in County Westmeath, went to Providence College and is still based in the Rhode Island capital. At the moment he is in training camp in Flagstaff, Arizona.

The 25-year-old, who ran for Mullingar Harriers growing up, represented his country at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the marathon. However, he was forced to pull up just short of 25 miles into the course with a hamstring injury.

mzungo.org whishes Martin all the best for Saturday. A Top 5 Finish would continue his strong early season and proves Boston organisers wrong. Do it Martin!
