Kigali — RWANDA'S long distance athlete Gervais Nzeyimana has entered this year's lucrative Standard Chartered Bank Nairobi International Marathon set for October 25.
The APR athlete is already undergoing intensive training in the high altitude areas of Ruhengeri, Northern Province as he plots for a good outing.
"I'm set to take on the Kenyans. I think I will have a good performance," Nzeyimana, who will compete in the 15,000m said.
Standard Chartered Bank is expected to inject Rwf55.9m in the race which will start outside the Nyayo National Stadium. The winners will take home Rwf11.1m $. The event will have five races; the 42-kilometre full marathon, half marathon (21km), 10km, 5km family fun run and the wheelchair race. With Kenya being home to 60 of the world's best 100 marathon athletes, the race is already bidding to rival the likes of London marathon, Berlin marathon, New York marathon, Chicago marathon.
