Nairobi — Vincent Kiplagat braved the toughest half marathon terrain in the world and searing heat to win the 2009 edition of the annual Sh5 million UAP Ndakaini Half Marathon.
Kiplagat clocked 65.39.8 minutes to beat Joseph Biwott who came in a close second with 66.00.6 minutes. The women's race was taken by Paschat Chepkorir who was running here for the first time. She beat Consolata Chemtai who also made her debut at the marathon as well, running the 21 km in 79.49.3
In both the men's and women's half marathon categories, Solomon Busheretich and Agnes Katunge took the third positions respectively.
The 15 kilometer race saw Vincent Kipruto take first place followed by Patrick Mwaka and Robert Kori in second and third places respectively.
Evans Taiget won the men's 10 km competition followed by Muturi Karanja and John Kariuki in first and second runner up categories respectively while Mercy Njoroge was first in the women's 10 km race.
