Next weekend its time for the half-marathon and the field is stunning again. Just to get the top boys sorted: Wanjiru VERSUS Kitwara.

We are looking forward to the next high speed showdown around Erasmus bridge!

Sammy Kitwara will run the Rotterdam half marathon this sunday against athletes like Samuel Winjiru and James Kwambai. He has beaten Haile Gebrselassie in march in The Hague and is ready for a new surprise. 'I'm not afraid for anybody, not even for Wanjiru.'

Half Marathon Rotterdam

Experience the great atmosphere in Rotterdam on the 13th of September 2009. The Half Marathon Rotterdam has a very fast, flat and traffic-free course! The start and finish of this event are at the Coolsingel, in the city centre of Rotterdam.

World record

In 2004, Robert K. Cheruiyot ran a season’s best (world) time in Rotterdam (1.00.11). During the second edition of the Half Marathon Rotterdam in 2005 Rotterdam, running capital of Holland, proved again that it’s course is very fast. The Kenian Talent Samuel Wanjiru, only 18 years old, ran a fabulous race. He broke the World Record of Paul Tergat (1998) with 1 second. He finished in 00.59.16 (WR), 29 seconds before Patrick Ivuti, who also ran within the hour (00.59.47).

In 2007, Evans Kiprop Cheruiyot won the fourth Halve Marathon Rotterdam in a course record of 59:12. This time was 4 seconds faster than the former course record, run in 2006. With this result, the four editions of this international race all broke records.
In 2008 a new record was set. Six competitors finished the Half Marathon course in less then 01:00:00. Patrick Makau won this edition in 00:59:29.
