Team Abu Dhabi Triathlete Set for World’s Fastest Marathon

This Saturday (September 19) will see one of the female members of Team Abu Dhabi Triathlon — the international triathlon squad backed by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority — make her competitive debut in the 36th annual Berlin Marathon, widely regarded as world’s fastest 42 kilometre race.

Competing against 40,000 athletes, Ina Reinders will fly the UAE flag in front of more than one million spectators, as she looks to fulfil her personal goal of finishing a marathon in 2hr 50mins, which would make her one of the world’s fastest 20 female competitors, a press release said. And, fresh from winning the gold in the Xanten Triathlon, which was run in Reinders’ West German home town, the 30-year-old is in the shape of her life.

“I’m still buzzing from winning my last event, especially as it was in front of my family and friends. It’s given me the drive to make sure I’m in top physical and mental form going into the Berlin Marathon,” said Reinders.

The marathon will be Reinders’ last race of the busy season but she will be cheering on other members of Team Abu Dhabi Triathlon as they compete in the Hawaiian World Championships on 10th October.
