NYC bound: Derartu Tulu
Ethiopia's Tulu won gold medals in the 10,000-meter run at the 1992 and 2000 Olympics and a bronze at the 2004 Games. In 2001, she won World Championships in cross country and in the 10,000 on the track. She's now been added to the ING New York City Marathon elite women's field for November 1's race. Tulu was third in her previous five-borough marathon appearance in 2005. She was the 2001 London Marathon champion. Her rivals in New York City this time will include the race's two-time defending champion Paula Radcliffe of Great Britain, 2000 winner Ludmila Petrova of Russia (who was second last year), Yuri Kano of Japan, Christelle Daunay of France and the reigning Boston Marathon champion Salina Kosgei of Kenya.
