‘Envoy’ set for event

Grace Momanyi is among the top athletes expected at the first AK/New KCC Track and Field Weekend Meeting in Kisumu on April 5-6.

Momanyi is among the ambassadors for the African Senior Championships to be held in Nairobi on July 25-August 1.

"The meeting is very important for athletes who will miss out of the team to Poland for the World Cross Country Championships," AK Publicity Officer, Peter Angwenyi, said.

He said while only 24 will be selected for the World Championships, the 3,500 athletes who have been preparing since the cross country season started last November, can launch their plans for the African event at the weekend meetings.

After Kisumu, the next weekend meeting will be in Nyeri on March 19-20, then Nakuru on April 2-3, Mumias on April 16-17, Mombasa on May 7-8 and Eldoret on May 14-16.

There will be seminars for journalists at all the six weekend meetings, to be attended by one representative from each media house.
