San Francisco Marathon Won by Keith Bechtol and Chikara Omine

The 32nd annual San Francisco Marathon came to an end on Sunday. About 24,000 runners took place in the marathon’s events, which included a few smaller races. There were two half marathons for the first half and second half of the main race. There was also a progressive 5k race.

The marathon runs in a huge loop leading runners through Fisherman’s Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Marina. The traffic in San Fransisco becomes near standstill as many of the main roads in the area are either closed, or redirected for the marathon’s entire race that lasted until 12:30 pm PDT.

The winner among the men was Keith Bechtol. Bechtol finished the marathon with a time of 2:23:28. The winner among the women was Chikara Omine. Omine finished the marathon with a time of 2:42:12.

This year’s finishers received an Official Race t-shirt upon registration, an Official Finishers 3.25″ coaster medal, finish line food, and an electronic finisher’s certificate.
