Cow Harbor 10k

Antonio Vega and Matt Gabrielson will run in the 33rd Cow Harbor 10k race which begins at 8:30 a.m. (Eastern) on Saturday and features over 5,000 runners. The course is described as scenic and challenging with rolling hills. Vega, who is the 2010 USA Half Marathon Champion, also ran Cow Harbor in 2008 and finished fifth. He has a best in the distance of 28:47.

In addition to his half marathon win last January, Vega finished second at the USA 10 Mile Championships in August, placed third at the USA 15k Championships last March, and came in fourth at the USA 7 Mile Championships in July. He is preparing to run the ING New York City Marathon on Nov. 7 and has also been selected for the U.S. team that will compete at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in China on Oct. 16.

Gabrielson has posted 28:44 in the 10k and is returning to form this fall after an achilles injury sidelined him last spring. Earlier in the year he was ninth at the USA Half Marathon Championships and 10th at the USA Cross Country Championships. He previously was a three-time member of the U.S. team for the World Cross Country Championships. In 2009, he was on the U.S. team for the marathon at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships, having finished second in the USA Men's Marathon Championship in 2008.
