Kenya's Duncan Koech has won the Bucharest City Marathon on Sunday, with fellow Kenyans taking second and third place, in a race that saw new records set for men and women.

Kenya's Duncan Koech has won the Bucharest City Marathon on Sunday, with fellow Kenyans taking second and third place, in a race that saw new records set for men and women.

Koech finished in a time of 2 hours 13 minutes and 59 seconds. James Cheruiyot came in at 2.15.33, and John Maluni Katio at 2.18.42 in cool, rainy conditions in downtown Bucharest.

More than 400 runners took part in the third edition of the race, with a total of 4,000 runners participating in the half-marathon, relay marathon, a children's and wheelchair race.

In the women's race, Sviatlana Kouhan of Belarus finished in a time of 2.35.13, Ethiopia's Gida Bekele was second in 2.39.49, and Russia's Oksana Kuzmicheva finished in 2.46.58.
