Kampala 2010 marathon winner Donald Sambu has been disqualified and the title and prize money given to Eliud Cheptei who had finished second.
Sambu was disqualified on technical grounds. He failed to get clearance from his mother federation in Kenya.
The runner had won the men's 42km event.
"It was a technical decision that was taken on Thursday after meetings. He will not get the prize money and he has to return the trophy," Uganda's Faustin Kiwa the race director said.
