The Woodlands appears to be getting its own marathon again, and no less of a luminary than American half-marathon record holder Ryan Hall will be part of the announcement at 1:30 p.m. today at Central Park in Market Street as organizers reveal the date and other details.
Hall and his wife, Sara, also a professional runner, have a foundation that’s said to be among the major beneficiaries of the new event, to be put on by the newly created Woodlands-based Launch Multisport, whose purpose is to support charities through sports competitions.
Plenty of willing runners
The master-planned Montgomery County community hosted a marathon for 14 years until dwindling entries and sponsorship funds killed it in 1993. But the growth of The Woodlands and the Chevron Houston Marathon indicate the timing is right for another go.
