London 2012 - Stiff target for distance runners

UK Athletics have announced their first wave of qualification standards for the Games, focussing on the 10,000m, marathon, race walks and multi-sport events.
No British male athlete appeared at the last World Championship marathon in Berlin and a stiff 'A' standard of two hours, 12 minutes has been set for London.
Last year former steeplechaser Andrew Lemoncello topped the British men's rankings with a two hour, 13 minutes and 40 second personal best time in his Virgin London Marathon debut, followed by Tomas Abyu (2.14.32) and Benedict Whitby (2.15.09).
