Healthy Kidney 2011: Leonard Patrick Komon sets new course record

Drawn by a huge prize purse, some of the fastest 10k runners in the world lined up for the start of the 2011 Healthy Kidney 10k in New York this morning, including five men who have run under 28 minutes for the 6.2 mile distance.

The temperature was a balmy 60 degrees with 78 percent humidity at the start, but that didn't stop the lead pack of Kenyans from blasting through the first mile in 4:17, slightly off world record pace on this very hilly course.
