Top athletes attend investment seminar

Olympic and London Marathon champion Samuel Wanjiru led other athletes in a successful financial clinic at the Eldoret Club at weekend.
The clinic was organised by Finetouch Communications and the Standard Chartered Bank.
Eighty athletes gathered to listen to experts in tax, financial and general economic matters.
The athletes included Olympic champions, former and current world champions, record holders, winners of road races, marathons and upcoming athletes.
Apart from Wanjiru, the current Kenya Sportsman of The Year, other big names included 2004 Athens Olympic champion Ezekiel Kemboi, multi-world record holder and current indoor and outdoor world record holder, Daniel Komen.
Moses Tanui, a two-time Boston marathon champion, 1988 Seoul Olympic 3000m steeplechase champion, Julius Kariuki, Leah Malot, Caroline Jebet, Henry Kiprono Kirwa, three gold medals winner of the Beijing special Olympics and Abraham Tarbei who also won two gold medals in Beijing also attended the seminar
In his welcoming remarks, former World marathon record holder Paul Tergat said his enduring desire is to see Kenya’s athletes successful in their financial transactions and investments just like they do in the field running.
He is seeking to bring in experts in various fields that have a bearing on the lives of sports people to equip them make prudent investments.
