Jason Pyles: Training Log 8/17-8/23 2009
100miles on 10 runs in 7 days:
Base Week 10
M: 8miles/ 8miles
T: 13miles(Hilly)
W:12miles including 12x400on/off
T: 13miles
F: 7miles/ 5miles
S: 19miles including Parkersburg Half Marathon(workout)
S: 8miles/ 6miles
Recap: Solid week, dropped the mileage slightly but really by the weekend my legs felt pretty tired so it didn't really matter. The 400 on/off workout was ran mostly in the pouring rain. Went to Parkersburg Friday night to run the half the next morning as a workout 10-12 miles at MP. Was a rough day, ran 10miles at MP effort but paces weren't matching up, after 10 I just got to the finish to get my money(Top WV bonus). Last year when I got after this race I ran 1:09.53 and that time would have been top 10 this year more based off the tougher conditions which is why I'm not too concerned I felt like junk at slower then MP for 10miles. Very tough course when feeling rough from the go!
CDR: With the "let it rip" test race in 2 weeks I have decided I have had enough hills and since most of my runs are already hilly I need to lay off the hill sprints this coming week and just hit mileage and finally bring WORKOUTS into the mix. I have went the entire summer with only base miles, steady state runs, stride workout, lots of hilly runs like I needed too. Now I need to turn strength and base into feeling fast! I know 2 weeks isn't going to have the leg's rolling for CDR but like I have said before that is more of a strength race. The ending pace at that 15miler isn't far off of many people's Fall Marathon paces.
