The 4th annual Eugene Marathon truly ran in 'the footsteps of legends' as it finished inside Hayward Field Sunday.
Greg Leon won the 26.2 mile marathon with a time of 2:23:15. It was the first marathon the 25-year-old from Athens, Ohio had ever participated in.
St. Louis' Zachary Freudenberg led for most of the day until Leon caught up with him around the 20-mile mark.
Midori Sperandeo was the first female finisher in a course record time of 2:44:21. The 43-year-old from Folsom, California broke the previous mark by 19-seconds.
2,333 people completed the full marathon in an average time of 4:10:29. Another 4,055 finished the half-marathon.
