BERLIN MARATHON 2010 - Mockenhaupt Hoping To Hit A Home Run

German marathoner aiming for a podium finish in Berlin on September 26.

Sabrina Mockenhaupt of Germany is hoping to end up on the podium at the 37th edition of the real,- Berlin Marathon on September 26. Aiming for a personal best, she will face stiff competition from a trio of Ethiopian women and one runner from Japan. Mockenhaupt ran her personal best in 2008 by winning the Frankfurt Marathon in 2:26:22, making her the number two German woman behind Irina Mikitenko.

Main contenders on the flat and fast Berlin course are Bezunesh Bekele of Ethiopia who placed fourth at the Virgin London Marathon in April and owns a best of 2:23:09. Her countrywomen, Aberu Kebede and Genet Getaneh, have personal bests of 2:24:26 and 2:26:27, respectively. Tomo Morimoto of Japan, who has run 2:24;33, won the Vienna City Marathon in 2006 and will be another top contender at Berlin.
