Oxford-born Athlete Mara Yamauchi says she had hoped to go faster in the Great North Run on Sunday despite a fifth place finish.
Yamauchi, 36, who is now based in Japan, recorded a time of 70 minutes 39 seconds as she builds up towards November's New York marathon.
Yamauchi told BBC Sport. "It was a reasonable time.
"I was hoping to go a little bit quicker but hopefully in another month I'll be going quicker."
Ethiopian Berhane Adere won the women's race at the race on Tyneside.
