All eyes on Ebuya

Joseph Ebuya bagged the elusive World Cross senior men long course title last won a decade earlier by legend, Paul Tergat, in Poland last year to uphold a remarkable tradition.

Five-time winners John Ngugi (86 to 89, 92) and Tergat (95 to 99) as well as double champion William Sigei (93 and 94) preceded the Turkana-born runner as individual men 12km gold medallists.

Ebuya’s triumph meant all four Kenyan winners of the Holy Grail of cross-country running have their roots in the Armed Forces, an amazing statistic.

On Saturday, the dusty and flat course just outside Laikipia Air Base (Lab) in Nanyuki hosts this year’s Armed Forces Cross Country Championships.
