Jason Hartmann Is Men's Champ at Twin Cities Marathon

Twin Cities was not a national marathon championships for men, but it was an extremely meaningful triumph and breakthrough for the 6 ' 3" Hartmann, who was two years ahead of 2008 U.S. Olympic marathoner (and now 5000-meter recordholder) Dathan Ritzenhein in high school in Rockford, Michigan. Hartmann was the overall winner of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon in 2:12:09, with Augustis Kavatu Mbusya of Kenya second in 2:13:03. Luke Watson was the second American and seventh overall in 2:15:29. "I am so proud of Jason Hartmann on his win at the Twin Cities Marathon," Ritzenhein told "Runner's World" via e-mail. "I have seen the hard work that he has put in since we first began running together over 12 years ago. This huge breakthrough for him is the result of years of dedication and the best is still to come. Jason has worked hard to bring himself back after the injury he had last year, and not only is he back, but better than ever."
