Central Park Track Club now sponsored by New Balance

The venerable New York City outfit, founded in 1972, kept me clothed in orange outfits for most of the 1980s. The CPTC has become the first club team in the city to be sponsored by New Balance. "New Balance is a perfect fit for the Central Park Track Club because of its wide range of athletic gear for the roads, track, cross country and field events," affirms CPTC President John Roberts, whose team qualified athletes for USA Nationals in the sprints, middle distance, distance and field events and placed two women in the top ten American finishers at the 2009 ING New York City Marathon. The CPTC also has a sponsorship with Strands.com, which Roberts calls "the 'Facebook' for the athletic community. Athletes can input training logs, post race results and interact with other athletes. We look forward to being ambassadors for Strands in the New York City running world." CPTC Head Coach Devon Martin notes "Strands allows us to give the best coaching advice to our athletes since we can review our athletes' entire training logs and inform our athletes of upcoming races."
