(Reuters) - Japan's Reiko Tosa has abandoned plans to return to international competition at this month's Tokyo Marathon because of a groin strain, her management said on Wednesday.
Tosa, who finished third in the 2009 Tokyo Marathon before retiring to start a family, has struggled since accepting an invitation to run a half marathon in Osaka last month.
Despite pulling out of the Feb. 27 race, the 34-year-old still plans to compete at next year's London Olympics.
Tosa won the silver medal at the 2001 athletics world championships and bronze in 2007.
