Imagine what Chris Solinsky and Tim Nelson might have done Saturday had they been sharp and in race shape.
The two runners from Oregon Track Club Elite/Portland won impressively before an estimated crowd of 3,200 at the Husky Classic in the Dempsey Indoor, Solinsky shattering his own facility record in the mile and Nelson gutting out a victory in the 3,000 meters over Garrett Heath and Oregon’s hard-kicking Matthew Centrowitz.
Solinsky won from in front in 3 minutes 54.52 seconds, which bettered the listed world best so far this season.
He also holds the U.S. record in the 10,000, which means the former Wisconsin All-American has one impressive range.
