Speaking to FeverPitch, Prof Sambili said her ministry would pursue the matter with the relevant authorities in the Government today and allayed fears that the event, which did not receive a mention at last week’s budget, would go on.
"We cannot leave Kenya out and the event will go on. We first have to establish why it was not mentioned in the budget," she said.
At last Thursday’s budget speech, Finance Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, who allocated Sh683m to the Department of Sport for the 2009/2010 fiscal year, failed to mention the event that requires a guarantee of Sh300m to host.
"We will give out more information after (inter-governmental) discussions," Sambili disclosed.
