Beppu-Oita is arguably one of the hottest marathons out there and it's neither due to the hot springs in the area, which make for great post race relaxation, nor due to hot weather conditions. It is simply another fantastic Japanese race. If you can't just qualify yet for Fukuoka and its strict 2:42 entry criteria, "Beppu" might be the perfect entry drug for marathoning Japanese style with a more modest open category (3:30h).
